Degree Information

Students enrolling in the BS Elementary Education program must meet the following admissions requirements:

An Associate in Arts Degree (AA) with a minimum of 60 credit hours from any college or university accredited by a regional accrediting association
Completion of state-mandated pre-requisite course with a grade of C or higher (EDF 2005, Introduction to Education)
A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale

As a 2+2 degree program, students can enroll at LSSC to earn their AA degree and choose the Elementary Education pathway to complete these requirements prior to admission to this program.

Estimated Time to Completion: 2 years (full-time)

Students must have earned a total of 120 credit hours to be eligible to earn a bachelor's degree, including the associate degree.

Program Costs

Total tuition costs for the BS Elementary Education program are currently about $7,335. The cost per credit hour is $122.25 multiplied by the program credit hours, 60. This does not include course/lab fees and textbooks.

BS Elementary Education Program Accreditation

The BS Elementary Education Program is pending approval as a certified Teacher Preparation Program by the Florida Department of Education.

The State of Florida requires students entering a Florida College System (FCS) or State University System (SUS) institution to demonstrate competency in civic literacy by the time they graduate, pursuant to s. 1007.25(5), Florida Statutes. Beginning with the 2021-2022 academic year, newly enrolled students must demonstrate competency through completion of a civic literacy course and by achieving a passing score on the Florida Civic Literacy Examination (FCLE).
