Team BIC Gives Back to Local Boys & Girls Club

Recently, members of the BIC team in Shelton visited the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club to participate in the Northeast Regional Conference.

Located in Bridgeport, CT, the Boys & Girls club provides extra-curricular enrichment opportunities for children and teens in the surrounding community. During the conference, 200+ students from Boys & Girls Clubs across the northeast region came together for a day of educational workshops, leadership sessions and career readiness programs.

"I am grateful to witness the impact of our support on organizations like the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. We are committed to equipping children with the necessary tools for their success, fostering creativity alongside essential resources, and ensuring a comprehensive approach to their holistic development,” shared Alison James, Executive Director, BIC Corporate Foundation.

Organized by the BIC Corporate Foundation, the ‘BIC World Career Fair’, a round-robin style information session, allowed students to learn about different career paths and job opportunities directly from professionals working in their fields of interest.

Team member representatives from across multiple functions, including sales, marketing, HR, strategy and finance, answered questions about their own career paths, the work they do and what it’s like to work at BIC.

During the session, students also got inspired to express themselves with our Tattly temporary tattoos thanks to a demonstration from Jon Skyrme, General Manager of BIC Skin Creative.

In 2018, BIC committed to improving learning conditions for 250 million children worldwide by 2025. It is through volunteerism events like these, our team members can positively impact the local communities where we live and work.

“Having been personally connected to the Wakeman Boys & Girls Club for over 40 years, it was gratifying to see the BIC Foundation and our team members get involved. The Keystone Clubs focus on the development of teens was a perfect match for BIC and our commitment to education. Our volunteers offered a dynamic and engaging opportunity for the teens – hopefully leaving them inspired to explore various career paths and to discover what’s possible for their future,” reflects Chris Dayton, VP of Financial Planning & Analysis.
